Update: LA-TI-DO

Spring has sprung! (Cliché, right?) But I actually mean it... It's March!

Every week - and maybe more or less sometimes - I'll give a weekly update on the projects I'm working on and the projects to come. Maybe even reminisce on projects past.

This week's update: LA-TI-DO

For those of you that don't know, this is Washington, DC's first and only weekly cabaret series comprised of spoken word and musical theatre talent. We launched in January 2012 and continued in DC for the last four years and in New York City every month for the last three.

La-Ti-Do was created by my friend Regie Cabico and I, is executive produced by me and the tagline is: "Where musical theatre and spoken word collide!"

This month, I've got five outstanding shows ready for you (all linked for your RSVP):

It's been a great time getting this all set up with the caliber of talent always raising the bar each time. With one minor snafu when our feature booked a cruiseship opportunity (awesome!) cutting his month with us short (sad...), an amazing solution came when he pulled in another talented artist back into the fold who had to drop out earlier as his co-feature. Win-Win.

In DC, we start our 2016 season of monthly features at Bistro Bistro Restaurant where we have an artist highlighted for the entire month, but we have a special case (mentioned above) with co-features Wood van Meter and Mackenzie Newbury. (See the other features here)

We'll also spotlight community theater group The Arlington Players, two alumni: Meredith Richard and Marni Whelan, and celebrate Trans Artists with the 2016 Helen Hayes Award nominated Lady Dane Figueroa Edidi.

In NYC, we feature Laura Gepford, a DC talent who will be showcasing herself in a new market, and Justina Adorno, a NYC local who will showcase both her musical and spoken word talent, along with a few other big city performers at Bowery Poetry Club.

All in all, it's a pretty solid presentation of shows and a diversity of talent. I hope you get a chance to check it out in DC, NYC or both!

Till next time,

Don Mike

P.S. I will always provide an abundance of links that will give you reference to all the people and things I mention in my updates. Yay, links! #interactive
